Harry was born in Tallassee, Alabama in 1935. After graduating from Elmore Co. High School, he enlisted in the US Air Force. He proudly served his country for the next 20 plus years. The pinnacle of his military career was the honor to serve as a crew member aboard Air Force One where he personally attended to the President of the United States spanning two administrations and numerous travels around the world. He is survived by his wife, former high school sweetheart, Gloria Estes Formby, to whom he was married for 61 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Debora Formby, and two grandsons, Nathan Formby and Samuel Formby. He is preceded in death by his only son, Harry L. Formby Jr.
There will be a graveside funeral service with military honors at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
