CMSgt, (USAF Ret.) Hayward Carlton Peacock, 84, of Converse, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer on September 30, 2020. Born March 20, 1936, in Sneads, Florida, he was the oldest child of the late Willie O. Peacock and Jewell (Howell) Peacock.
Hayward enjoyed a 28-year career in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1982. Early in his career, he married his wife of 64 years, Janet Mary (Peterson) Peacock of Grand Marais, Michigan. Together they started a family and were assigned to several locations including Michigan, New York, Thailand, Florida, and Texas. He spent his last 14 years in the Air Force stationed at Randolph AFB and retired to Converse, TX. An avid golfer, he could often be found playing rounds or hitting range balls at Randolph Oaks Golf Course.
Hayward is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Steven, Scott, Stacy, and Gregory Peacock; sister, Marilyn (Peacock) Campbell; and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dillon and Kenton Peacock.
A Rosary and Mass will be held on October 5, 2020 at 1pm, at Saint Monica’s Catholic Church in Converse, Texas.
A private, military burial ceremony will be held with family at Fort Sam Houston.
