

Hazel Elizabeth Nelson passed away in Houston, Texas Aug. 18, 2016 at the age of 90. Elizabeth was born in Manning, South Carolina on Apr. 14, 1926. Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. Alfred James Nelson, Ret., who died Jul. 25, 1991. They were married Feb. 3, 1946 in Columbia, South Carolina. Lt. Col. Alfred James Nelson’s Air Force career spanned 30 years. Elizabeth was a military housewife who lived in numerous States & Countries, Philippines, Japan, Morocco & Turkey from 1946 to 1972. Elizabeth lived in Universal City, Texas until 2015. Elizabeth worked in the Jewelry Dept. of the old Scriveners store & Joskes in San Antonio, Texas for several years. She was a gracious person who enjoyed reading & traveling. Elizabeth was actively involved with the Church of the Resurrection & with Kings of the Daughters, Altars Guild. Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Dawn Nelson of Houston, Texas, Sue Harries & husband Lester Harries of Sanger, California, Son, Alfred Jim Nelson Jr. & wife Eileen Nelson of San Antonio, Texas. One grandchild, Lisa Longoria of Houston, Texas, & other Family & Friends. The funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Oct. 7, 2016 at Church of the Resurrection. Rev. Christopher O. Cole, Rector of the Church of the Resurrection, Episcopal, will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral home. In Lieu of Flowers memorial donations may be given to Church of the Resurrection 5909 Walzem Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78218.
