Helen Elizabeth Yarling

Helen Elizabeth Yarling, 93, of Live Oak, Texas, passed away December 22, 2022. She was born in Cherryville, North Carolina on June 14, 1929 to William H. Byers and Thelma Pearl Self. She was married to Hayden A. Yarling for 60 wonderful years. Helen worked as a budget analyst at the Pentagon for the United States Air Force. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 911, of Schertz, Texas. She had a passion for traveling the world, whether by plane, train, or an RV. She also enjoyed taking care of her pets.

She was preceded in death by her father, William H. Byers; mother, Thelma Pearl Self; brother, Harold Byers; and husband, Hayden A. Yarling. She is survived by her nephews, Richard Yarling and Manuel Byers; Brothers-in-law, Fredrick Yarling and John Yarling(Judy); Close family and friends, Bill & Marie Davis, Teresa, Jimmy, Chase, Hailey, Asa, and Izzy Kelley, Linda Smith, Arlene and Virgil Pascual, Kayla, Eric, Victoria, and Oliver Montgomery.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, TX 78148. The funeral service begins at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
