On May 3, 1965, Helyn Martina Keith Wilshire was the 4th child born to the doting parents of Sergeant Major Harry Keith & Irma J. Gonzales Keith in Nuremberg, Germany. Soon after Helyn's birth, in 1967 they returned to the United States and were stationed in Fort Hood, Texas where Harry finished his Army career. In 1969 they returned to their home in Kansas City, Missouri, to settle down and raise their family.
Helyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and personal Savior at an early age, and even though she had a quiet and soft demeanor, she was bold in Christ and had a huge heart filled with the Love of God.
Helyn, affectionately known as Tina, attended elementary school in the greater Kansas City area, proceeded to Bingham Jr. High, and Graduated from Southwest High School in 1983. Tina was very popular and active in high school, including playing the clarinet in the marching band, and her talent was extended by writing music and playing the piano. After Graduation, Tina continued her education and attended college at CMSU and studied for the medical field/nursing. During her college life, Helyn met and fell in love with her soulmate, Raul Wilshire.
After a season of a fairytale and a whirlwind romance, Helyn and Raul were married on August 2, 1986, and she began a new and exciting journey traveling the world and living in different countries such as Japan, Germany, Guam, and our own Hawaii as the wife of an Air Force Soldier.
Tina was huge on family, and when they took leave to come home and visit, it was always the biggest occasion of the year. It was filled with games, laughter, love, and the visit to her favorite restaurant, Gates BBQ. Her visits united the family and brought so much joy and happiness.
In 1990 Tina and Raul decided to start their own family and they brought into this world 5 wonderful, beautiful and amazing children, Ariel, Stacie Dawn, Raul Jr., Aryes, and Ameriste. These children were the core of joy to their mother's life.
In 2009 Raul Sr. decided to retire from the Air Force, and he and Helyn agreed to relocate to Cibolo, Texas and make it their home.
Tina loved being a wife and mother, and she made her family her top priority. She ensured that Christ was the head of their home and instilled the love of God in the hearts of her family not only by words but as a living example. Helyn loved and supported and encouraged her husband and children through every endeavors, including their education and careers, and not only just immediate family, but she was one of the best sisters one could have.
Tina would call and check on all her siblings weekly and some daily. She opened the doors of her home to family members with love and guidance, and you could call her day or night, and she was always there with a firm and sound piece of advice and prayer.
Helyn strived to let the Love of God shine through her and her life, where she served on several ministries at Word of Faith Church, where she loved and called her church her second family, and she adored Pastor and First Lady Pearson.
Even though we’re incredibly saddened to see Helyn's earthly journey end on October 29, 2021, she is set on a new and exciting journey with our Lord in Heaven. She is walking the mighty streets of gold and is once again reunited with the loved ones that have gone on before her. Helyn Martina has left a legacy and a true reflection of the Love of God through her finished works, the life she lived and beaming ever so bright through her beautiful children.
