

Henry S. Hank Brown, 94, passed away on January 21', 2015. He is survived by his son, Henry Brown Jr. and wife Judy of San Antonio, TX; son, Gerald Brown and wife Merrilou of PipeCreek, TX and daughter, Sophie McCoy and husband JamesMcCoy of Burnet, TX. 10 grandchildren and 15 great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Ray Brownand many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife of 70 years, Sophie, and one great grandchild.Born Oct 24, 1920 to Stan and Sophia Brown of Pittsburgh, Pa.he left home to join the Army. Afterwards he came to San Antonio, Texas where he met and married Sophie Wegmann.His work career started as a Plumber's Helper with Local 1, 42 and later became Business Agent of the Local. Retired from the Plumbers, he went to work for and later became President of the Texas AFL-CIO for 10 years. During this time he had two presidential appointrnents by President John F. Kennedy and President Lyndon B. Johnson. Retiring from the AFL-CIO, he joined American income Life insurance Company as Vice-President and Public Relations, traveling the nation, giving motivating speeches. Staying active to the Labor Movement
even in his retirement he continued his activities through his speeches, inspiring others along the way, encouraging them to
become active and always "get out voting." A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he leaves us all with the memory of his everlasting love for his family and his passion and concern for all working men and women. We will miss him greatly. We also know he will be missed by many others in San Antonio, the state of Texas and throughout the United States. He touched many lives throughout his career; many have shared this with us: how he made a difference in
their lives, in their career and in their work place. There will be a viewing at St. Luke’s Catholic Church on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 6 - 7:30 with a rosary and eulogy from 7:3O - 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be 9 am Saturday, January 31, 2015 at St. Luke's catholic Church (4603 Manitou Dr.). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Henry's.
