For those of you who do not know, my sisters and I lost our grandparents at a very young age.  After they died, Tia Gloria and Tio Poncho quickly became our “ new grandparents.” Growing up,  Tio  always made it a point to sit down and talk to me about the sports I was involved in and school. He always encouraged me to do my best!  When we would come visit, I remember being very excited to share my grades with him! Later, as I had my own children, he did the same for them.  He always made time to ask them about their lives and their future.   He would always say, “Work hard and study... then you can make the big bucks!” LOL. Thank you  Tio  for always giving us encouraging words and sound advice. We will miss you. 

Up until Poncho's  final minute, Gloria and the family were with my brother. He departed peacefully knowing he was loved. I cannot thank Gloria and his children enough for loving him so. I loved, respected, and admired my brother, my hero, my North Star.  I am eternally grateful for his departing wisdom: Acceptance is key to peace. He lived his final years with the  courage his Purple Heart medal represents. A true hero. I am proud and blessed to have been his sister.  🌿 Betty
