I only recall I had the opportunity to be in Uncle Jay's and Aunt Toni's presence three times in my life before they passed, but memorable times they were.  

First time I recall is 1985 when our family, his sister's (my mom, Gayle),  visited San Antonio during a trip in the area and stayed at their house.  It was odd hearing the continual buzz due to the insects, but the heat was wonderful (for me at least since others don't like it) to feel as we visited.  

The next time was 1993(?) when they visited my mom in WA State where they traveled in Canada, WA, and maybe OR in their big Buick Park Ave (?) with all the bells and whistles of a luxury car. 

The last time I saw them in person was when I was in San Antonio for a month on business the fall of 1999.  Aunt Toni thought I was too skinny and wanted to continually feed me at the house (who was I to say no?) while insisting she do my laundry weekly.  All Jay could do was chuckle at this from his recliner while she smiled throughout.  I first learned of Taco Cabana during this time there which Jay made sure I had a chance to eat before leaving. 

Uncle Jay was my mother's brother and my favorite uncle. He was interesting because of all the places he traveled to and the stories he told. We were  always excited to see him and Aunt Toni, even as we grew into adults. They were fun to visit with and always showed they loved each other, their children and us. We will always hold both of them in our hearts.

You all are in my prayers.  I loved talking to J.C.  He was fun to listen to.

I remember Tomi (we called her Toni) and J.C. growing up. I remember Carolyn, Judy, John and Joanne. Tomi and J.C. were my  warm and loving couple that took care of me the first 2 to 3 weeks of my life.  My mom had to stay in the hospital from a kidney infection after having me and my dad already had my older sister and brother, John and Marie to take care of (I’m sure Tomi and J.C. helped my dad with them too). I am grateful for knowing both of you. Thank you for all your care and love. You brought many blessings to this world.

Carolyn, I'm so sorry for your loss of your father. His obituary tells of a man to be really proud of and I'm sure you and your family was.  I'll be praying for yall love you

Immediately following the graveside service, a reception and fellowship will be held at Live Oak Baptist Church located at 11560 Toepperwein Road, Live Oak, Texas 78233.

J.C. is preceded in death by his loving wife, Tomie, and his parents, Joe and Cora.  He is survived by his four children: Carolyn Giddens, Judy Wooten, John Wooten, and Joanne Whitright; seven grandchildren: Jessica Chamberlain, Jason Giddens, Jake Rogers, Jennifer Sartor, Emily Morris, Aaron Whitright and Dallas Whitright; six great grandchildren: Makayla Chamberlain, Joshua Giddens, Andrew Chamberlain, Gabriel Giddens,  Gavyn Morris and Talula Giddens.
