OBITUARY

James "Jim" D. Caudill

June 17, 1955December 3, 2018

On Monday, December 3, 2018, Jim Caudill, loving husband and father of three sons, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 63.

Jim was born on June 17, 1955 in Detroit, MI to Clinton and Margaret Louise Caudill. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1979. Returning to Michigan, Jim worked for the City of Royal Oak as a Master Mechanic and taught classes at Blue Swan Ceramics, a family-owned business. Pursuing a dream job in radio, Jim obtained a degree in Broadcasting from Specs Howard School of Media Arts then obtained a position with the Upper Michigan Radio Station reporting on the news and ski reports. Jim finally had enough of the cold and snow in Michigan and made the best decision of his life by moving his family to the great state of Texas, where he would call home for the remainder of his life. Receiving a position with the City of San Antonio, Jim began his career as a Mechanic, was later promoted to the Supervisor of the San Antonio Police Garage, and ultimately obtained the position of Fleet Acquisitions Manager in the Purchasing Department. After faithfully devoting 21 years of his life to the City of San Antonio, Jim retired in 2009.

In Jim’s free time, he loved listening to music and creating mix tapes and CDs for anyone he met. He enjoyed a broad range of music genres, and especially loved Motown and Old Country. His dream vacation was taking his beautiful wife to the beaches of South Padre Island where the two would enjoy fresh shrimp while listening to the crashing waves and seeing the colorful sunrises. While at home, Jim was a diehard fan of the show COPS, and would root for the Detroit Lions or the Dallas Cowboys. Late into the night, you would be able to find Jim working on engines and carburetors in the garage, preferably on his favorite set of wheels - a Ford Mustang GT. Barbecue became a hobby of his, one that has been passed down to his sons. Jim was known for his humor, wit, generosity, and the pride he took in his work and family.

Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his loving wife Karen, his children Clinton, James and wife Desiree, and Jonathan and wife Victoria, and his many grandchildren Joshua, Louis, Nicole, Angela, Nathaniel, Juliana, and Lucy, and his brother Jerry.

Jim submitted his life to Christ and was baptized. He is currently in the presence of the Almighty, and his family longs for the day when they are all reunited.

A funeral viewing will take place on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 2-4 pm, and a service will be held at 4 pm. This will take place at:

Colonial Funeral Home 625 Kitty Hawk Rd. Universal City, TX 78148

Graveside Services with military honors will be Thursday, December 13th 10:15am at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery.

“If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.”
