James was born at Kincheloe AFB, Michigan in 1965 to Loren A and Marion (Kraemer) Weishaar. James, an Air Force brat, traveled with his family, living in Nebraska, California, Arizona and Virginia before coming to Texas in the summer of 1974. He graduated from Judson High School in Converse, Texas in 1983 where his favorite class was physics with Ms. Walker. He was a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (1987). After college, he taught physics at Judson High School. He also taught himself web development and supported an early version of the Judson website. After several years of teaching and information technology self-development, James turned his hobby into a new career as he became a software developer. He worked for multiple contracting companies, mostly on government contracts for projects like the Surgeon General's website and hospital/medical related applications. He learned systems administration and did that when needed as well, but was happiest in development. In his spare time, he was a self-proclaimed "geek", playing Dungeons & Dragons (back in the day) and other fantasy board games, and building and upgrading his own computer hardware multiple times. He was also an avid fan of Star Trek, Star Wars and the Marvel & DC Universes. James will be remembered as a generous and doting uncle. He loved spending time with his many nieces and nephews and later with their children.
James was preceded in death by his father, Loren A Weishaar and his infant brother, Lee Andrew Weishaar. He is survived by his mother, Marion, and sisters Laurie Cook (Troy), Barbara Meurin (Mike), Michelle Serry (Henry); his nieces and nephews: Andrew Fifield (Erin), Kristin Herrera (Christopher), Theresa Cook Spiess (Christopher), Matthew Cook (partner: Savannah Olkowski), Dr. Margaret Cook, Kimberly Serry, Henry Michael Serry, Zachary Serry, Victoria Chavez and Russell (Katie) Chavez; grand nieces and nephews: Melanie Moison (Roger) , Mackenzie Fifield, Christopher Keegan Herrera, Kali Herrera, Kaycee Herrera, Caden Herrera, Luke Spiess, Natalie Spiess and Emily Chavez; and great-grand niece: Leyah Moison.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the San Antonio Food Bank, the American Cancer Society or Equality Texas.
