Jean Willis Vogel

Velma Jean Vogel was born July 15, 1931 and passed on to be with our Lord on November 4, 2013 at the age of 82. Jean was born in Mena, Arkansas to Frank and Gertie Willis, along with five sisters, Retha Poston, Pauline Rains, Gladys Brown, Rudene Miller, Eva Lou Higgins, and three brothers, Wesley, Grady and Ira Willis. She married Max Vogel on October 11, 1954 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and together they raised 12 children in San Antonio. She is preceded in death by her husband, Max, daughters, Vicky and Saundra, daughter-in-law, Patty, grandchildren, Michael, Wesley, and Wendy and great-grandchild Hope. She especially enjoyed playing music on her guitar and holiday gatherings with her large family. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include ten children, Mike and Kim Vogel; Carl and Chris Vogel; Max and Tina Vogel; Tim and Diane Baldi; Becky and Dennis Schryver; Willie and Tracey Vogel; LuAnn and Richard Holden; Sherrie and Fred Shows; Roger and Vicki Vogel; Wanita Greenwood and Ross Bjork; many wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving family members and special friends. A visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home on November 6, 2013 from 5:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held at Kirby Baptist Church at 5114 Seguin Rd. Kirby, TX 78219 on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:15 P.M.
