

Jerome Claude Marbach, of Converse, Texas, entered into eternal life on December 26, 2016. Jerome was born in San Antonio on October 24, 1945 to Udo and Erna Marbach. On November 9, 1968 he married his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Marbach. Jerome is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Anthony Marbach; his sister, Diana Ciomperlik; and his in-laws, Pete and Pauline Pollok. Jerome is survived by his loving wife, 5 children: Rodney (Christina) Marbach, Russell (Stacey) Marbach, Amanda (John) Miller, Aaron (Melissa) Marbach, and Audrey (J.R.) Eichelberger, and 11 grandchildren. Jerome is also survived by 7 brothers, 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
Jerome was one of 13 children. He grew up in Converse, Texas and graduated from Judson High School. He went on to graduate with his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Mary’s University where he also was a member of the ROTC. Jerome bravely served his country in the United States Army. He was an Army Airborne Ranger and a Vietnam Veteran. After his active duty, he served in the Reserves until he retired as a Major from the military. Jerome worked for Aetna Insurance for many years and at the Hartford Insurance Company for 27 years. While he had much success in his military and work life, his true happiness was in his family. He was married to the love of his life, Betty, for 48 years. They had their two sons, Rodney and Russell, and settled into their home on Rock Cove Lane in Converse, not far from his parents’ old homestead. In 1984 he lovingly welcomed his brother’s children - Amanda, Aaron, and Audrey - into his home. Jerome had 11 grandchildren: Hannah, Peter, Madison, James, Jordan, Allison, Anthony, Julie, Johnny, Jenna, and Justin, and was known to them as “Pa”.
Jerome’s favorite thing in life was hunting with his wife, sons, and grandchildren. He also loved bird watching, collecting and repairing old guns, and keeping track of his family’s genealogy. He had such love and admiration for his parents, siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his welcoming and sincere personality. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, followed by the internment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Reception to follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School cafeteria.
