Joan B. Lanning Smith

Joan B. Smith passed away on October 25, 2013 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Florence Lanning and step-father Harold Lowe. She is survived by her wonderful husband of 33 years M. Wayne Smith; children Richard C. Cook (wife Deidre), Deborah L. Cook; step-son Steve Smith (wife Dana); step-daughter Debra Kirkland ( husband Daryl); grandchildren, Taylor Cook, Jordan Miller (husband Boomer), Kennedy Cook; step-grandchildren Lane Smith, Parker Smith, Logan Smith; sister Dawne Price (husband Doug); and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was one of the founders of Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church in June of 1978. She also served as an Elder and was very active in the church. She retired after thirty years civil service as an Administrative & Executive Secretary for the United States Air Force, Visitation will held Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 6 – 8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 11:30 am at Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, 16245 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78247. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
