John B. Mitchell Jr. passed away after a brief illness October 29, 2010 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 84. John was born June 18, 1926 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to John B. Sr. and Virginia Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell proudly served his country in WWII in the U.S. Navy and was a Purple Heart Recipient.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years Elsie Mitchell; son: Richard Mitchell (Jeri); daughter: Janice Mitchell; grandchildren: Robert, Kelly, Kevin and Katie; five great grandchildren; sister: Carolyn Reed (Rick); brothers: Mickey Mitchell and Bob Mitchell (Amanda).
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jimmy Mitchell.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Colonial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 pm. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
