John Sims Smith

Ret. U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. John Sims Smith went to be with the Lord July 22, 2017 at the age of 93. He was born November 12, 1923 in Austin, Texas to Hugh Mercer and Blanche (Sims) Smith. He received numerous awards during his military career including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geraldine: his daughter, Judy Oakley and her husband Bob from Universal City, TX. He is survived by his daughter, Joni Dillow and her husband Randy of Bulverde, TX, his son, John M. Smith and his wife Joy of Cibolo, TX; grandchildren, Jessica Oakley, Marissa Nolan, and Garrett Smith; great grandchildren, Melaney Nolan and Malory Nolan. The Family would like to thank the very special ladies that took such loving care of him. A visitation will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. and a funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. at Colonial Funeral Home.
