Jose M Fuentes

Jose was born on June 15, 1930, in Matamoros, Mexico, to Seferino and Agueda Fuentes. As a young man, Jose served honorably in the United States Army. He loved to immerse himself in nature, whether by going fishing, beekeeping, or gardening. This passion for the world around him served Jose well in his many years as a landscaper. He also loved going bowling or playing bingo with his friends and family. Jose was a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

We were blessed with fond and everlasting memories of family gatherings on the holiday with extended families. Our father and uncles were always planning wonderful and fun outings to places such as Brookfield Zoo, Culver and Warsaw Lake, Wisconsin Dells, Silver Beach and so many more.

Jose was above all a loving husband and father. A friend to all who had the fortune to know him. His light will continue to shine in our hearts forever. Jose will be deeply missed but never forgotten. The family would like to thank all the relatives and friends who have shared their condolences, love, prayers, and support during their time of need.

Jose is preceded in death by, his loving wife, Josefina Fuentes, brothers, Basilio, Guadalupe, and Alberto, sisters, Maria Zarazua, Evangeline Smith, and Rosario Martinez.

He is survived by; his five daughters, Dolores Rodriguez, Irma Rodriguez, Silvia Garcia (Mauro), Teresa Duran, and Graciela Padua (Fred), his brother Jose Angel Fuentes, sister Alicia Alvarez, grandchildren, Laura (Troy), Marty (Mari), JoAnn (Victor), Sally, Oscar Jr. (Tina), Lupita, Stephanie (Asim), Michael (Katie), Paolo, eleven great grandchildren, Megan (Alexander), Taylor, Brody, Daisy, Lexi, Justine, Ian, Bella, Celeste, and Estrella, seven great great grandchildren, Alaia, Alexander, Artic, Miko, Atticus, Odette, and Elton.

A visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home, located at 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148, on January 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A rosary will also take place at the same location on January 28, 2026, from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

Funeral Mass is scheduled for January 29, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 N Evans Rd, Selma, TX 78154, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Graveside service with Military Honors will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266.
