Jose "Bobby" Luis Gonzales

Jose "Bobby" Luis Gonzales, age 89, of Schertz, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Bobby was born in Sinton, Texas to Dolores Alvarado Gonzales and Pantaleon Gonzales on February 17, 1934.

Bobby worked as a veterinarian tech before going into the United States Navy. After leaving the Navy, he worked construction, as well as showed and trained horses for clients in Corpus Christi. Moving to San Antonio, he worked in construction and then went to Greenwood Farms which is now the Dominion. He worked at Kelly AFB on the planes in the sheet metal department. After retiring from Kelly, he worked at Walmart and continued to train and show horses, which was his passion. He was active in the San Antonio Stock Show and rodeo in the horse division and was one of the many first volunteers. He was very active in the Appaloosa Horse Club.

He was a gentle, loving man, who would help others and a wonderful husband, stepfather, and especially a great grandfather who was loved by all.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Patricia; his son Steve; his brothers, George (Alice) and Alex (Diana); his sister, Angie; his grandchildren, Allison (Adam), Lauren, Denton (Amber), Tylor (Mariah), Stephanie and Hali (Michael); as well as many great grandchildren.

Bobby is preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Jackie Lavern Crout; his father Pantaleon Gonzales and his mother Dolores Alvarado Gonzales.

Serving as pallbearers are Alex Perez, George Perez, Adam Medina, Luis Esquivel, Tylor Park, Michael Thompson, Rick Silva and Cody Michaud.

A memorial viewing for Bobby will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, TX 78148.
