Juan Zuniga Jr. passed bravely from this life to his long awaited new one with Jesus, surrounded by his family on September 4, 2018. Juan was born March 28, 1938 in McAllen Texas and resided in San Antonio for the past 34 years. He served in the Texas National Guard as a tank commander followed by 21 years of Air Force service and was a Vietnam Veteran. Some of his decorations and awards include a Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, AF Outstanding Unit Award, National Service Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross With Palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He had a strong work ethic and was always willing to lend a helping hand, proudly saying "I have a tool for that". He loved his wife, admired his children and grandchildren, cherished his neighbors and enjoyed his morning coffee at McDonalds with his buddies. He will be greatly missed by those he loved and those who loved him. Juan is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Alta Gracia Zuniga, his proud children and their spouses, John Zuniga (Kayce), Yvette Z. Jemison (Skip), Daniel Zuniga (Judith) and his loving grandchildren, John R. Zuniga, Eric Zuniga, Christine Jemison, Adrienne Jemison, Raquel Zuniga, Daniel Zuniga, Victor Zuniga, Aaron Campbell (Amanda), and his great-grandchildren Jackson and Kennedy Campbell. He is survived by his brother Hector Zuniga and his sister Norma Gonzalez. He is reunited in heaven with his parents Juan Capistrano Zuniga and Natividad Espinoza, and siblings Edelmiro "Eddie" Zuniga, Robert "Bobby" Zuniga, Alma Natividad Zuniga, George "Choche" Zuniga. Visitation will be at Colonial Funeral Home 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, Texas, Saturday September 15, 2018 9:00 am to 11:00am, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be private and at a later date.
