Julia M. Kenney, 53, departed on January 18, 2026, in Universal City, Texas. Born on March 29, 1972, in Korat, Thailand. Julia lived a life full of heart, adventure, compassion and a deep connection to people, animals, and the natural world.
Julia was a bright light; strong, caring, and endlessly generous. As a child, Julia fell in love with Jesus, recognizing the truth and love he brings us. Struggling to find this love in the world she delved deeply into religion and spirituality only to be reunited with Jesus in unexpected ways. She and her sister Jenny Kenney were raised like twins with Jenny a year older. Her mom Pranee Kenney would dress them the same way as children and they shared a room together. Although opposite in temperament, they were bound tightly by love. Julia felt a deep connection to the ocean and especially Key West where her and Jenny lived for a little while. It made her so happy to see the dolphins swimming and jumping in the ocean. She said she liked Key West because it felt like a neighborhood and everyone was friendly. She also enjoyed riding her bike there with friends and would go on ‘scent safaris’ following the scent of the flowers growing all around. Julia deeply appreciated nature and enjoyed photographing flowers in the sunlight and of course people having fun too. In addition to going to school for photography Julia was a personal trainer and eventually became a massage therapist because she wanted to deepen her awareness of the muscular/facial system and how to better help people feel stronger and supported.
Julia is a natural giver, seeking social harmony and always focused on helping others. She also spent much of her spare time volunteering at animal shelters and fostering little ones at home until they were old enough to get adopted. Julia’s smile was unmistakable, her eyes lit up so brightly that her face seemed to exude sunlight. When her dad Col. Paul E Kenney lost his sight she came back home to help out. She took excellent care of him for many years and continued to take care of her mom Pranee Kenney after he passed. Julia loved her family deeply and was always working toward uniting them under common goals. When Jenny passed Julia was devastated and never fully recovered. Wise beyond her years she was ready to be with her father and sister Jenny again when the time came. She is now at peace united with Jesus, Jenny and her dad once again. Waiting to be reunited with her friends and family who are still on this earth. Her mom Pranee Kenney, sister Keskanok Kenney Street, her brothers Robert Kenney and Johnson Kenney, and her cherished nieces, Erin, Midori, and Cait. Her best friend Michael Kirk and all of her other friends and extended family.
She is deeply loved and will be forever remembered for her warmth, laughter, compassion and beautiful soul. Julia’s life was a blessing, her love a gift and her memory a source of joy. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A private service will be held to celebrate Julia’s life.
