Larry Pedersen was born May 16, 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Soon after, his family moved to Duluth, and though they lived other places as he grew up, his family never left the frigid North. While living in Superior, Wisconsin Larry met the lively Patricia Edelstein, who would become his wife in 1963 and partner in a loving marriage of over fifty years. He graduated from The University of Wisconsin, Superior with his bachelor’s degree English and later completed his masters at Eastern Illinois University.
Larry was a career officer in the United States Air Force and, with Patti and their two children, Mark and Lisa, enjoyed postings in places as diverse as New Hampshire, Iran and finally in San Antonio, where he retired from the service and stayed to enjoy the warm climate. Though he had other jobs after his retirement from the armed services, he was never defined by his work. Rather, Larry was defined by his innate generosity and goodness, his calm, comforting demeanor, and his love for reading, the arts, and travel. These passions are shared by his wife and were passed on to his kids. He recently returned from a whirlwind European vacation with Patti, Mark and Mark’s wife Kathy that he enjoyed immensely.
In addition to his immediate family, Larry is survived by his brothers Dennis, Terry, David and Alan and by his sister Judy.
Larry was an enthusiastic volunteer at the Universal City Public Library and his family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the UC Library.
