

Dana was born in El Paso, TX on October 3, 1963, to his parents, Earl Lee Joplin and Wanda Mitchel.
Dana served in the United States Navy from 1998 – 2012 as a GSM2 (Gas Turbine System Technician). During those years, he served aboard the USS McClusky FFG-41 (1998-2001), ACU-5 Camp Pendleton (2001-2004), the USS Higgins DDG-76 (2004-2009), and NAVCONBRIG Mirmar(2009-2012).
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 40 years, Linda G. Joplin; brother, A. Dewayne Joplin (Wife Pam Joplin); sister, Debi Navarro (Husband Sam Navarro); and brother-in-law, Ronald Hunter (Wife Edith Hunter); as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his son, Cody Lee Joplin; mother, Wanda Mitchel; his twin sister, Lori Reid; mother-in-law, Elida Hunter and his father-in-law, Jack Hunter.
The family would like to extend special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and staff of Audie Murphy VA Hospital for their special care and compassion.

Arrangements for Dana Joplin have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, TX 78148.
A visitation for Dana will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, September 1, 2025 with a Funeral Service to begin at 9:30 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM all at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A Committal Service with Military Honors will follow at 11:15 AM to 11:35 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
