Lewis “Lou” Beck, age 81, of Cibolo, Texas, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, July 6, 2019.

Son of the late Lewis Edward Beck, Sr. and Louisa Alvino (Fohner) Beck was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on August 13, 1937. Lou was a spunky kid who always loved anything to do with the military or playing cowboys. He had an infectious smile and a feisty nature. Even at a young age, Lou had a kind, helpful nature and was, throughout his life, willing to help anyone that needed it. An animal lover, he even had as a young man, a pet spider monkey.

After high school, Lou enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served for 22 years. While serving, he received multiple awards and commendations and even served 3 tours in Vietnam. The military took him to many places and towards the end of his career, he ended up as a Coast Guard recruiter in San Antonio, Texas. He retired with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. Once he retired, he became an Army recruiter and he also worked for the Bexar County Sheriffs Department. Watching Old Westerns, the shooting range, and old-time country music were some of his favorite pastimes. When he lived near the water, he loved just sitting for hours and staring at the ocean. On his 75th birthday, he even checked something else off his bucket list…he went skydiving and he loved it!

One of the things that Lou enjoyed most was sitting on his back porch, smoking a cigar and sharing stories and laughter with his family and friends. Lou had an infectious laugh and great sense of humor. He always had a joke or crazy story of things he did when he was younger.

Lou’s favorite things in the world, besides his family, were motorcycles. Many-a-day you’d find him out riding the Texas Hill Country. His two wheels took him to many places and he enjoyed every one of them. At the young age of 75, and at the insistence of his children, he decided to exchange his two wheels for three. That didn’t matter to him. He still rode almost every day.

Lou is survived by his wife of two years, Jackie, and his children: Mary (Dean) Stebbins, Michael Beck, Robin (Stanley) Fey, Tina (Max) Vogel and Lewis Beck III. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Shawn (Rebecca) Stebbins, Matthew (Ligia) Stebbins, Jeremy Fey, Stephanie Fey, Alex Beck, Zane (Liza) Beck and Miranda Beck, and also by four great-grandchildren: Emily, Kathryn and Dylan Stebbins and Bethany Beck. He also leaves a sister, Agnes Statile (Glenn).

In addition to his parents, Lou was predeceased by his first wife, Florence J. Beck and his brother, David. A Celebration of Life with be held on Tuesday, July 16th 2019 at Colonial Funeral Home located at 625 Kitty Hawk Rd., Universal City, Texas from 5-8 pm. Burial will be at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery on August 13, 2019 at 10:15 am.

Dad, we are heartbroken that our time with you here on Earth is over. You were an amazing Dad who always had our backs, no matter what. I will miss those beautiful blue eyes and that wonderful laugh, the crazy humor and even the "lectures". Daddy, you truly were a gift to those privileged enough to have you in their lives. I am eternally grateful to God that I was one of the chosen ones who was blessed to call you, "Dad". Don't drive Mom too crazy with your antics. Until we meet again. Love you with all my heart. Always your "pride and joy"...Mary
