

Linda Lou Abell, 86, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, her birthday. Born on October 3, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the beloved daughter of Tildon "Tony" Ratliff and Josephine Ratliff.
Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband, John William Abell, her son, Ronald "Ronnie" Abell; and her sisters, Dona Reed and Fay Peyton.
She is survived by her sister, Gail Johnson and husband, Fred; her children, Tony Abell and wife, Leonor, Becky Thomas and husband, Danny, and Larry Abell; and her cherished grandchildren, Mandy Guy and husband, John, Johnny Abell, Samantha Abell, Veronica Ramirez and husband, Paul, and Alex Hernandez. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and dear friends who were blessed by her kindness, generosity and unwavering love.
Linda's greatest joy in life was her family. She loved gathering everyone together and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter and love. While she cherished all family celebrations, Christmas held a special place in her heart. Her living room remained decorated year-round with the Christmas village houses and Santas she lovingly painted herself, reflecting her enduring Christmas spirit. During the holiday season, she delighted in welcoming as many family members into her home as she could fit, creating treasured memories that will live on for generations.
A gifted and creative woman, Linda expressed her love through her handiwork. Family members treasured the tea towels she made by hand, and every new baby welcomed into the family received a handmade quilt crafted especially for them. Each stitch reflected the care, patience, and devotion that characterized her life. these cherished keepsakes remain lasting reminders of her love.
Those who knew Linda will remember her for her warm heart, creative spirit, generous nature and unwavering devotion to her family. she taught through example that life's greatest treasures are not things, but the memories made together, the traditions passed down, and the love shared with others.
Linda's legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the traditions she created, and the countless lives she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to bring comfort, inspiration, and love to all who knew her.

A Committal Service will be held from 11:15 am to 11:35 am on Monday, November 2, 2026 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, Shelter #2.
