Malcolm lived most of his childhood in Massachusetts. After graduating from West Point with the class of 1950, he served in Alaska, South Korea, and Vietnam and retired from the military in 1957 as a Colonel. He has three surviving children who are also military retired officers; LTC Nicolette Wheeler, Col Malcolm D. Johnson, Jr., and LTC Remi Johnson. These three children have given Malcolm 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Marjorie and Malcolm were married in Turkey in 1985 and have had an interesting 30 years together living in Egypt, Turkey, France and the ARC. Marjorie brought 4 children and 7 grandchildren into his life. Amongst Malcolm’s many interests were gardening, raising dogs, training and riding horses, renovating old buildings, riding his bicycle, speaking French and dancing. At the ARC, he was often called Mr. Computer because of his willingness to help others when they had a problem. Malcolm was a very gentle man!
