Margaret (Marguerite) Cecilia Vandersypen Biggs was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on November 15, 1935, one of 11 children to Augustinus and Maria Orstance (Vanlangendonck) Vandersypen. She went to her Eternal Home with the Lord on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the age of 88, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. With all her fading memories, she never forgot how to pray. She was surrounded by family as she ascended to Heaven to meet her Lord and her loved ones awaiting her arrival.
She took joy in many interests such as: gardening, sewing, dancing, camping, canning her fruits and vegetables, garage sales, church functions, and loving and caring for her family. Whenever you saw Margaret, she greeted you with a warm and welcoming smile that made you feel special. There’s nothing she enjoyed more than spending time supporting her children and their families at any and all events in their lives. She worked consistently to develop a stronger relationship with the Lord and prayed daily that her loved ones would too. Even through the most difficult times, she remembered to thank God for the blessings of each day.
Margaret married Henry Keith Biggs on August 13, 1955; it was love at first sight. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2012. Also preceding her in death was her daughter and constant companion, Kathryn Ann Mauldin on February 11, 2024. Margaret was the last matriarch in her family of six brothers, four sisters, all her brothers and sisters in-laws, and three son-in-laws: Greg, William, and Todd. She is survived by her three children: Brenda Finley and husband Ron, Michael Biggs and wife Juli, and Margaret Ann Kersh and husband Ron; thirteen grandchildren; seven grandchildren-in-laws; twenty great grandchildren; one great grandchild-in-law; and six great-great grandchildren.
A visitation and rosary will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 6:30pm at Colonial Funeral home in Universal City. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 @ 11:30am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma Cemetery #2.
And so, we honor her – a woman of many talents. Her legacy, like delicate threads; is stitched into the fabric of our hearts – a testament to a life well-lived; eternally cherished. May her memory continue to bloom; and may her love ripple through generations.
