Maria, called Mary, was born June 13, 1929 to Antonio and Mama Maria Esparza in Imperial, Texas.
Although Mary only received a 8th grade education in Imperial, she got her GED diploma after all her 6 kids graduated from high school. In the 3rd grade, she met and chose her future husband, Epimenio Primera "Neno".
Mary and Neno were married May 15, 1948 and were blessed with 6 children in a span of 12 years: 5 sons and 1 daughter. They made their first home in Imperial, Neno's DIY "Pink House".
Mary was a strong, loving, full of faith woman who loved to care for her family. She served her family through 12 different caravan moves from town to town following where the trucking business took them and finally ended up in Schertz, Texas in 1976.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; Antonio and Mama Maria Esparza, her 3 brothers; Tony, Jose Maria, and Daniel Esparza, and her sisters; Eloisa Vijil and Ramona Polanco. She also lost Epimenio, her husband of 63 years, her sons, Elias and JR Primera.
Mary is survived by sons; Mike Primera (Berta), George Primera (Irene), Adam Primera (Yvonne) and her daughter; Vicky Valdez (Sal). Also 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Plus numerous nephews, nieces, extended family members and many good friends.
Mary's joy in life was her family. She loved to celebrate birthdays, and every holiday with her loved ones. Her greatest gift to others was her constant daily prayers for our safety and health. Each of us could feel her love and compassion at all times. She will be missed dearly but there is gladness in our hearts, for we know she no longer feels any pain and we know she is celebrating with her loved ones in heaven. Thank you Jesus for holding Mary in your arms!
Mom we love you forever!
PS: I can hear Dad ask: "Oiga vieja, porque duraste 15 años para volver conmigo?"
