Mr. Thorpe was my Universal City Manager in my tenure as UC’s Building Inspector. His strength of character and his fairness throughout his tenure, was known to all who worked for, and with him. Although he never expressed it “directly”, I believe he received a bit of grief from having a building inspector whose gender was female. I always felt supported by him and knew he had my back. Gene treated everyone with dignity. He was liked, respected by his employees and I never saw any indication that he played politics. Gene was a man of integrity.
