

She was known for a vibrant personality and strong connection with friends and family. Martha enjoyed writing, teaching, puzzles and a wide variety of music. She would frequently giggle with delight at jokes and silly stories. And she was very close to her nieces from childhood through well into their own children's adulthood.
Martha was born on March 22, 1939 in Mexico City and grew up in Laredo, Texas.
Martha graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1957. She received her Education degree from Texas State College for Women followed by a Masters in Counseling from St. Mary’s University.
She married Ron Hamada on June 5,1971 in Laredo. They moved with their two boys Koto and David to several Air Force base locations in Texas, Colorado and Mississippi.
She was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years working with 3rd and 4th grades throughout Texas including Laredo, Del Rio and San Antonio. She was also very active with the Air Force NCO Wives Club and routinely volunteered at Randolph AFB Thrift Shop.
Marha is survived by her husband, Ron Hamada of 55 years, son Koto and his wife Lekha and grandchildren Anjali and Diya, and her brother Emilio Fernando.
Martha was preceded in death by her sisters Olga, Leonor, Rosa Maria, brothers Arturo and Francisco and son David Minoru.
Martha’s life will be honored at a mass at the Church of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz, Texas at 11:30 AM on Wednesday July 22, 2026. Following mass, she will be interred at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. A rosary vigil will be held at Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City at 6:30 PM Tuesday July 21, 2026.
