Marvin E Smith was born in San Antonio, August 24, 1943, the only child of Marvin A. and Laura May Smith. He attended schools in San Antonio and was a graduate of Texas State University. (Southwest Texas University).
Marvin was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and was a long-time member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in San Antonio.
He leaves his wife of fifty-six years, Dixie Smith, to mourn his passing. Other survivors include his son, Steve Smith (Catherine) of Corpus Christi; Cherie Telfer (West Palm Beach, FL); Debra Hernandez (Mission Viejo, CA); Darla Hernandez (Phoenix. AZ) and Dennis Echols (Meadville, PA) as well as thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends.
As a long-time member of King of Kings Lutheran Church, Marvin served as usher, participated in the weekly Sunday Bible Study Group and volunteered for the Food Pantry.
Marvin proudly served in the Air Force and subsequently worked for the Federal Government at Kelly Air Force Base for thirty-five years.
Until his “second” retirement in 2106 he also maintained a tax preparation business where he was a trusted professional and advisor for his many clients and associates.
Ed will be missed by his family and friends and he will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his wit and wisdom, and his love of things that fly.
