

Marvin Eugene Walker, Lieutenant Colonel (retired), US Army Medical Service Corps was born in Akron, Ohio on December 25, 1934 and passed away in San Antonio, Texas on November 5, 2017. He was a graduate of East High School in Akron, Ohio where he was a member of the Student Council, the National Honor Society and president of his senior class. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at The University of Akron, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and served as its president his senior year. He received a Masters degree in Public Health at the University of North Carolina in 1974.
While in the service, he had tours in Landstuhl, Germany; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Cu Chi, Vietnam; Fort Hood, Texas; the Surgeon General's Office, Washington, D.C.; with the Eighth Army in South Korea and at Fort Sam Houston, Texas where he was honorably discharged in 1980.
He immediately donned the red blazer of Deanie Owens/Better Homes and Gardens and began his very successful 29 year career as a Realtor. Next he joined RE/MAX Nova and eventually opened four RE/MAX offices of his own. Twice he was chosen Broker-Owner of the Year for Texas. He retired from real estate in 2009.
As a 42 year resident of Windcrest, Texas, he became one of the founders of the Windcrest Economic Development Corporation and was president for its first three years.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia; two sons and their wives, James and Paula of San Antonio, Texas; Robert and Gladys of Marana, Arizona; four grandchildren, Lauren, Jordan, Sean and Brandon; his sister Beverly and brother Charles, both in Akron, Ohio. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Howard and Elma, and brothers Howard Jr. and James.
A visitation will be held on Sunday evening, November 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. and memorial service at 11:30 a.m.on November 20, both at Colonial Funeral Home on Kitty Hawk Road. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m..
