Mary was received into heaven with open arms by those preceding her in death, her husband Col. Robert H. Buss, her mother - Emma Minervia Wollard, brothers - Billy Frank Wollard, David Earl Wollard, Jerry Edward Wollard, sisters - Ruby Mae Smith, Dorothy Nulf, and Maydie Marie (Ivy) Riemenschneider. She is survived by her children, Edward G. Sparkman Jr. (Earline), Janet Lee Louvier (Raymond), Mary E “Lisa” Westbrook, Franklin P. Kehrer, Vivian Saito Kehrer and William Mark Kehrer (Tracy); three brothers - Bobby Lee Wollard, James Leslie Wollard Sr., and Thomas Glen Wollard. She has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She is rejoicing in heaven and is a new star in the evening sky watching over us now. Mary was a remarkable woman that spent much of her life creating opportunities for the elderly in the community. She was the Director of two dynamic senior centers for elderly citizens to come socialize at lunch, bingo, special events, dinners, dances, and numerous special functions. She was a three time President of the Women’s Auxiliary at VFW Post 8541 in San Antonio. Her diligence was rewarded at the 50th Annual National Women’s Auxiliary Convention in Corpus Christi, TX; receiving every award offered that year. Her entire life was spent volunteering for those in need.
She worked for many years for Mr. Cecil Morris, Senior Vice President of HB Zachary Company, as his personal Executive Assistant. In her younger years she was a model for a furrier, and a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Dance Studios. Mary’s greatest love was that of being a mother. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She never failed to make each one feel as if they were the most special child. She was a gourmet cook and a monochromatic interior designer. There wasn’t any place she went or touched where she didn’t leave some form or fashion of her inspiration as a designer. One of her homes was featured in the Parade of Homes Magazine.
She taught her daughters and granddaughters to be ladies first, respectful, choose love over hatred, forgive, and give of ourselves especially to those that had less than we did. She taught her sons to be strong, never give up, and strive to be all you can be. Our successes are because we believed what she taught us, that we could be anything we wanted to be in life if we were willing to work hard for it.
Our deepest heartfelt thanks go out to Seasons Alzheimer’s & Assisted Care and to Heart to Heart Hospice. Thank you Mona and to all of your staff and to the wonderful Heart to Heart nurses.
Rest in peace mother, for your memories live on through those who loved you. For it’s not in death you sleep, but are reborn into a new life with our Lord Jesus Christ. We will love you forever!
A celebration of life service will be held at 4pm this Saturday, November 22nd at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 10595 U.S Hwy 87, Adkins, TX 78101
