OBITUARY
Mary Esther McGuire
September 18, 1947 – January 3, 2021
Mary Esther McGuire (Alley), 73, transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 3, 2021.
Esther was born September 18, 1947, in Floresville, Texas, to Frank & Mary Alley. As a graduate of Floresville HS, she was an active and popular student. During her senior year, she was the Head Cheerleader, voted "Friendliest" and Senior Class Favorite.
She had dreams of traveling the world and marrying a military man afforded her that luxury. She went on to live in Virginia, Colorado, Norway & the United Kingdom and visit countries all over the world before returning home to TX in 1989.
For a large part of her life, Esther worked inside the home as a full-time wife & mother. She took great joy in caring for her family and never missed an opportunity to provide them a home-cooked meal, a well-timed hug or a word of encouragement. Somehow she managed a home, her family, found time to be actively involved in her daughters' extra-curricular activities and never had a hair out of place.
As her daughters got older, she became anxious to find work outside the home. She met many wonderful friends during her time with Eisenhauer Bank, Worldwide Locator & Goodwill Industries before her "retirement". She quickly realized how much she enjoyed working, so she returned to the workforce as a part-time teacher with Mothers Day Out (MDO) at Cornerstone Church. She flourished in that role and considered it an honor to teach her class of toddlers about God's unfailing love.
In her spare time, Esther loved to read the Bible, dance, have marathon phone conversations with her family and friends, watch reality TV with her daughters and take their RV to Garner State Park with her husband.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles; 2 daughters Kimberly & Kelly; 2 sisters Sophia, Gloria (and spouse Rafael); 2 brothers, Leandro, Joe (and spouse Silvia); 1 sister-in-law, Tina; and countless other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary & Frank Alley; her niece, Erica Smith & her brother, Ray Alley.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 at 6:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to:

Kelly, this is Emily's mom! My heart has been so heavy since the news of your mom, but know she watches over you beside our Lord in Heaven! I held such great appreciation for her, and always remember how when you and Emily were in Starlites and I used to bake cakes for business from home, your sweet mom would tell me..."Mrs. Negron, you go do your cakes and I'll call you when it's half time and the girls are about to perform so you can come see Emily", and she always did!!! 💞💫 I've always held that so special in my heart! She gave me that amazing opportunity to make it on time to watch my daughter perform with the Judson Starlites at home games, back then! Your mom knew well a mom's heart! She will always be remembered in the sweetest of ways! Sending prayers of strength and comfort for you, your sister and dad! I know how much Emily loves you. I'll always be here for you too Kelly, if you'd ever want to stop by. Sending tight hugs with lots of love!! RIP beautiful Mrs. McGuire!! 🙏❤🌹🕊

It was an honor to have known Mrs McGuire, she was such a kind soul and always had something positive to share.
I loved seeing her in my chair smiling and chatting while I was doing her hair. She would tell me how proud and blessed she felt to have her daughters and husband taking such a good care of her. She always looked so elegant and polished and I will miss her good energy.
I’m so sorry for your loss.

Mrs. Mary,
I am fighting tears as I write this. I was fortunate to have met you at Cornerstone MDO. You were first Elijah’s teacher. The following year you were Isabella’s teacher and my coworker. I will miss your joyful spirit, laugh, and hugs. Our conversations I will always cherish. Thank you for showing an abundance of patience and love for my children. I’m so thankful I was able to to talk to over the phone before we moved to Japan. You told me to enjoy it and that it would go by fast. And we talked about visiting you when we got back. We love you Mrs. Mary! I know we will see you again.

I am so very sorry for your loss. My heartfelt sympathy to her husband, daughters and the rest of the family. So heartbreaking to hear of Esther’s passing. She was a classmate and friend. Such a special and beautiful person, always smiling and telling everyone “Hi”.
May God give you strength and comfort in this difficult time.

My heartfelt sympathy goes to all of Esther’s family. I was a fellow classmate and cheerleader with her at FHS. Whether we were making hall signs, riding the bus to & from games, or preparing a silly skit for pep rally, she was always SO much fun! I’ll never forget her kindness and her boisterous laugh! Her memory will live in the hearts of all of us who knew her.

Ms Mary,
Words cannot describe what an incredible person you were. I was fortunate to have you as my sons first MDO teacher. My son, Ezekiel, adored you and even called you his girlfriend. I was so nervous to send him to school, and you made all of us feel so much better — even before the semester started! I will always remember the joy you brought to my sons life and the last time we spoke last summer. You said you were leaving Cornerstone, but would try and visit your students since our year was cut short. I cried then and I cry now. We love you and will never forget the amazing person you were to so many.
Rest In Peace.

My heart goes out to the Family. Esther was a very heartwarming person. She was there when I needed her and she did not think about herself she thought of others. I am going to miss our talks on the phone. She would tell me all of her adventures after she retired. I know for sure she is with Our Father above and that makes me feel good. God Bless to the Family here on earth! LOVE, Donna Beckingham

So sorry for your loss. Esther was a classmate at dear ole FHS. During our high school years she was such a joy to be around. She always had a smile on her face and ready to help when needed. During the class changes you could always hear Esther before you saw her. You always knew she was somewhere in that hallway. She always had a lot of spunk and laughter. She will be cheering with the angels and flying high. Prayers for closure and healing for the family.

I worked with Esther in the Worldwide Locator from 2005 until she retired. Esther and I had many conversations about our families and pets that we had at that time. We often took walks on the base on our breaks. We had alot of laughs sharing stories. Esther was a great storyteller. The office just wasn't the same for me when she retired.
Wayne, Kimberly and Kelly I pray that you find comfort in these shared memories of Esther and you will continually be in my thoughts and prayers for healing.

I met Mrs. McGuire while in elementary school with her daughter Kelly. I am know 38 years old and she was always a ray of sunshine to be around and had the biggest heart of any woman I have ever known. My favorite memories of her were the nights I'd come to her house and watch the bachelor or bachelorette with her and Kelly and we would sit and gossip about the girls and guys on the show. I will never forget Christmas time because she always make these Christmas wreaths and I would eat them as fast as I could. Or our road trip to Galveston to see Clay Walker. There are so many other wonderful memories with her that I will never forget. Kelly is my best friend since third grade and my heart is so heavy for her and this new chapter of her life without her sweet momma. Life will never be the same without her sweet soul. If only I could have hugged her one more time before she left and just told her Thank you for all the words of encouragement while growing into adulthood. Tears are falling as I sit here and type and think of how such a wonderful person could be taken from us. She will be forever missed and always loved!

Wayne, Kim and Kelly,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Your mom was very special and I will miss her. I'll miss your stories and banter. I remember Kim and I hanging in the living room and your mom walked by and touched the top of your hair and said "Hi Rooty Toots" because you hadn't done your hair in awhile. She could always crack me up. She could be funny without even trying to be funny. I'll miss her saying "Kimberly!" I can't believe she is gone, but I know that she is happy and healed with Jesus. She's watching over all of you!! ~Karie

I spent many Christmas holidays with the McGuires as part of the "extended" family and I have to say I will forever remeber the Joy Mrs. Mquire had for having all her family together and how excited she made dressing up to sing the 12 days of christmas or playing the cookie game. I will always see her smiling singing that sing! Love Joshua

Mrs. McGuire was the kindest, sweetest and most welcoming to me. She put a smile on my face every time Kim would call her while we were out on one of our adventures. She had a way of making us laugh and always told us to have a good time and she’d be praying for us to be safe. I was blessed to know her!!!

Girls night in Cedar Park enjoying a little music from Rick Trevino. I saved the night by bringing the chairs. I’ve always enjoyed the funny stories and videos shared of you girls and your mama. It’s very clear who y’all got your fun personalities from.
I hope you feel surrounded by much love. I wish you healing and peace.

Wayne, Kim and Kelly our condolences on the loss of Esther, a very loving, and beautiful lady. She was a wonderful and thoughtful cousin who took time to visit my mother-in-law, Margaret in the Nursing Home which brought her so much joy. Esther extended her attention to so many, including me. While attending a 30th Wedding Anniversary Celebration of a mutual friend, she watched Willie and I dance. When we returned to our table, she told me, “the reason Willie is such a good dancer is because of me, I taught him everything he knows”. I thanked her! She has left her “life prints” everywhere . We always loved her and admired her so much for her jovial and positive spirit. I know you all will miss her but she is now enjoying her rewards. Until we meet again. William and Gloria Quintanilla

The loss of a loved one is one that cannot be expressed. Each one of us deals with the grief differently and in a way that helps us cope best. Esther, as she was known to all of us who went to school with her in Floresville, was such a warm, vibrant person, touching all of us in her bubbly way. Wishing you peace to bring you comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart. God bless you.

Esther was my first friend as a military wife at Langley AFB, Hampton, VA. fifty years ago. So many wonderful memories we share as a couple...she and I enjoyed our thermos of coffee and hot chocolate while we sat on the benches at Ft. Monroe/Buckroe Beach while Wayne and Lonnie fished late into the night and early morning hours, breakfast at IHOP after Sunday church on base, tent camping, trips to Williamsburg and the pottery shop, breakfast with Santa for our young children at downtown Joske's in San Antonio, day trips to Market Days in Virginia and Texas. Oh the fun trip we took to the Amish Country in PA and our weekend trip to NYC where we saw our first and only Broadway play. We saw Yellowstone National Park together. Oh, the list goes on and on in my memory...too many to mention. Our first RV trips! Several trips to Inks Lake together. I'll never forgot our last trip together to Junction where we tried our hand at Cornhole - how we laughed at ourselves! Of course, I miss our long telephone conversations!
Esther's family...her mom and siblings always made us feel like family.
Esther was an inspiration to me to be a better person.
Lonnie and I are here for her family...Wayne, Kim and Kelly to love and support in any way we can.
I have a huge hole in my heart knowing I can't see her, talk to her, go camping with her BUT I know I will see her again because she KNEW Jesus and is in His presence today.
Her friendship was special and truly cherished.

Mrs. Mary taught my daughter, Emery, at Cornerstone. She was always so loving and I always enjoyed talking with her after class. She always proudly told me about Kim and Kelly and I will never forget how excited she was telling me about the 50th Anniversary dinner the girls put together. She was so proud of both of her wonderful girls. I am grateful our paths crossed and I loved her bright and loving spirit. My condolences to you all on the loss of such a wonderful woman. ❤️

Mama McGuire was always there. Whether to give me a piece of Trident out of the little dish in the kitchen, or to tell Kim and I to quiet down a bit at night.
She was the coolest mom without being the flashiest. (If you know what I mean.)
She loved Wayne like nobody I ever saw love someone. Kim and Kelly were her entire world.
Heaven got a feisty Angel. You will be missed dearly.
