

Myron Ray January, originally of Portland Oregon, transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, January 16,2024, surrounded by his loving family. " Ray " as he was respectfully known, was born in Portland Oregon and raised in Washington where he attended Hoquiam Highschool. He enlisted in the military at the tender age of 17 and gave 30 years in service to the United States Army. Ray will be remembered by his many accomplishments. Ray served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a combat medic. He was a decorated War Hero and bronze Star recipient. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church where he served in The Knights Of Columbus. He is a devout Catholic and lived to give and although he was discreet most of all he had was going to support many charities every month to include but not limited to Arch Bishop diocese of San Antonio, Aid to Church, Allied Women's Shelter, the children's hospital, Doctors Without Borders, food for the poor, Little Flower, Oblate missions, Shriners, Smile Train, St. Jude's, OP smile, and dozens more. He enjoyed his coffee with his friends and attending school functions, games and performances that of his grandchildren and great grandchildren . He had a love for travel and a love of his photography of the places he would visit, often visiting family and friends. He enjoyed home cooked meals especially those made with love of his grandchildren where many family memories were created, BBQ was a favorite.
Those left to cherish memory include his children that he loved and called his own, Thomas Michael January (Susan Herron) of Laquey, MO, John Matthew January (Chaunte) of Huffines, TX Theresa Bennett ( Steve) of Columbia, MO, Armeda Gullett ( Tommy) of Waynesville, MO, Jamie January ( Derek Grinnell ) of Converse,TX ; His many grandchildren and great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his mother Bessie Brown Weaver and his beloved Son James Dean January of Waynesville, MO and his grandson Andrew January.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday January 29 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. There will be a Mass prior at 8 am at his beloved St. John Neumann Catholic Church led by his Cherished Priest and close friend Father Alex.
