Olga Montoya

Olga Montoya, 75, of Universal City, Texas, peacefully entered eternal rest on July 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Olga was born on November 7, 1950, at Robert B. Green Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, to Pedro R. Martinez and Belen Robles Martinez.

Although Olga's formal education ended after the ninth grade, she never gave up on her dreams. Later in life, she proudly earned her GED by attending night school and continued her education to study court reporting, a profession she had always aspired to pursue. Her determination and perseverance were an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

A faithful member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz, Texas, Olga lived her life guided by kindness, humility, and faith. She worked diligently throughout the years, serving as a housekeeper at Army Residence Community and Brooke Army Medical Center. She also worked as a clerk at H-E-B and Bill Miller Bar-B-Q, where her daughter, Sandra, had the special privilege of working alongside her, creating memories they would both cherish forever.

Olga found joy in the simple blessings of life. She had a remarkable talent for hand embroidery, sewing, and crocheting beautiful doilies, table runners, tablecloths, throws, and countless handmade treasures that will continue to remind her loved ones of her creativity and care. She also had an incredible green thumb, filling her home with vibrant plants and beautiful flowers.

Above all, Olga's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose generous heart touched everyone she met. She loved spending quiet afternoons taking scenic drives with her beloved husband, Ricardo, admiring God's creation, and relaxing together while watching classic Western movies. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and selfless nature made everyone feel welcomed and loved.

Olga was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro R. Martinez and Belen Robles Martinez; her beloved daughter, Jenny Mata; and her siblings, Diana, Irma, Norma, Ricky, and Candy Garza.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 32 years, Ricardo Benito Montoya; her children, Sandra and Ricardo Cerda, Richard M. Mata Sr. and Katherine Gomez, Michael Mata, Raquel Salazar, Porfirio and Irene Hernandez, Mark and Tina Acuna, Adam Montoya Sr., and Eva Montoya. She was also blessed with 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride and happiness to her life.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Colonial Funeral Home and Guiding Light Hospice for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.

Serving as pallbearers are Richard M. Mata Sr., Adam Montoya Jr., Corey Vernon, Richard M. Mata Jr., Roland Dillard, and Alexis Mata.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Olga's legacy of love, kindness, faith, and generosity will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.

Funeral services are currently pending. The family will announce the date, time, and location of the services once arrangements have been finalized.
