

Opal Dickson Bristow of Universal City passed away on January 15, 2011 at the age of 91. She was born on January 6, 1920 to Drew and Alta (Wyatt) Dunn in Abilene, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Arts at Hardin-Simmons University. She taught at Day and Bradford Elementary Schools in San Angelo, Texas. She was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in San Angelo and First Baptist Church Universal City. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Travis Dickson and husband Alvin Bristow; brothers, Glenn and J.D. Dunn. She is survived by her sons, Lewis Dickson (wife Mary) of Universal City, Texas, Taylor Dickson of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Katherine Elaine Holt (husband Terry), of Piedmont, OK, George Frank Long (wife Olaya), San Antonio, TX great-grandsons, Peyton and Tyler Holt of Piedmont, Oklahoma; and brother, Col. Billy Dunn, Chaplain U.S. Army (Retired) of Lufkin, Texas. A visitation will be held on Thursday January 20 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Universal City with a funeral service following at 11:00 A.M. Graveside services and interment will be held at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo, Texas on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 2:00 P.M.
