Opal Pinkston Holley

Opal was born to Silas Sherwood Hodges and Bessie Brochero Hodges on October 17th, 1936, in Clovis, New Mexico. Opal entered the world as the youngest of twelve children.

She attended Grady High School and later devoted her life to her family and her faith as a loving mother, homemaker, and deeply cherished pastor’s wife.

Opal, in her truest form, was a people person. She never met a stranger, only friends she hadn’t laughed with, yet. Whether she was working through a puzzle, shuffling a deck of cards for a lively game of Canasta, or stepping out dressed to the nines, Opal brought warmth and personality wherever she went.

Above all, Opal loved the Lord and poured that love into serving others through ministry. Her faith wasn’t quiet. It was lived, shared, and offered freely through kindness, hospitality, and an open heart.

Opal is survived by her sons, Charles Pinkston (wife Paula Joanne), and James Pinkston (wife Connie); Opal's grandchildren, Charlie Pinkston (wife Taylor), Derek Pinkston (wife Sheila), and Chelsea Flynn (husband Aaron) are left behind to cherish her memory, as well as her great-grandchildren, Charles, Izzabelle, Jacob, Olivia, Abigail, and Ella.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Bessie Hodges; her eleven siblings; her first husband, Reverend Jim Pinkston, and her second husband, Reverend Cecil Holley.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Reverend Wayne and Judy Clark, and Reverend Sam and Esther Matta for their love, support, and faithful friendship.

A visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home, located at 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, Texas, 78148, on January 9, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The funeral service will take place at First Assembly of God on 13435 West Ave, San Antonio, Texas, 78216, on January 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Memorial Park & Crematory, located at 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd, San Antonio, Texas, 78239, on January 10, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
