Patrick James Ryan, Sr. was born January 19, 1941 in Rochester, New York. He passed away on October 2, 2018 in Kerrville, Texas. He lived in an extended care unit at the Kerrville Veterans Hospital.
He graduated from MCQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester in 1958. He went on to Saint Bonaventure University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts. In 1979, he received a Master of Science in Management degree from Troy State University.
Pat served in the United States Air Force for twenty years. He retired as a captain on November 30, 1982. Upon retirement, Pat settled in Universal City, Texas.
At Randolph Air Force Base, he became deeply involved with the Loreto Catholic Community. Patrick was also regularly active with the Schertz Knights of Columbus.
He continued his lifelong interest--collecting stamps. Pat was active in the San Antonio Philatelic Association, Texas Philatelic Association, and the Éire Philatelic Association. He was a member of the Austin-Texas Stamp Club, and American Philatelic Society.
Patrick’s parents were Wendell and Frances Ryan. He was the oldest of four children who are Sister Mary Anne Ryan, James Ryan (deceased), and Dr. Kathy Ryan, MD.
Patrick’s wife, Teresa Ryan, is deceased. They are survived by six children. John Steven whose children are Stephanie, Robert and Kevin. Christina Marie Ryan - Jarzombek and her husband John Jarzombek—deceased is Christina’s son, Tyler Alexander Dennis. Michael Patrick and his wife Sandra with their children Lisa and Katie. Christopher Paul Ryan, Patrick James Ryan, Jr. whose children are Faith and Teresa; and Phillip Alan Ryan.
The funeral will be on Friday, November 16, 2018. Funeral arrangements are a Rosary and service at the Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City at 9:30 A.M. followed with a funeral service. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:30 A.M.
