Paul G Carey II arrived in heaven on December 24, 2023. Paul was born in Longview Texas on 13 March 1942. He graduated from Will Rogers High School, Tulsa Oklahoma in 1960. He enlisted in the USAF in July 1961 after attending one year at Oklahoma State University. After attending basic training at Lackland AFB and technical training as an accounting and finance specialist at Sheppard AFB, he was assigned to security service in the Republic of Taiwan. He then spent tours at England AFB and the Republic of Viet Nam. In 1969 he PCSed from Viet Nam and was supposed to get a permanent change of station assignment preference to the United States, he requested the southeast and was assigned to McChord AFB WA, furthest northwest AFB in the US. As an unhappy TSGT, he decided to separate from the USAF in 1970 and pursue a career in the civilian economy. He worked in Alexander, LA as a data processing specialist at the Rapides Bank and Trust until he reentered the USAF in the data automation field in 1971. He finally got his assignment to the southeast at Homestead AFB FI. In 1974 he was assigned from Homestead to AFMPC Randolph AFB, from there in 1978 he went to Young San AFB in Korea and then returned to AFMPC where he retired from the USAF as a SMSGT 1 Nov 1984. He immediately returned to AFMPC as a civil servant. Same desk, same coffee cup but having to decide what to wear to work every day. He transferred to AETC as a Training Staff Officer in 1990. After 42 years of federal service, he retired as a GM-13 in 2004. His favorite hobbies included fishing in which he was considered by many as being one of the best. He caught thousands of bream, crappie, white bass and catfish, of which he provided cleaned filets to many of his friends, gambling was also one his favorite hobbies, he spent many hours in the casinos of Las Vegas, Mississippi, and Louisiana playing the slot machines. He also loved golf, he was only mediocre but loved the time he spent on the links with his friends, many of the world's problems were discussed and solved at the 19th hole. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Kathy, his daughter Pam (husband Raul) his two step sons Shawn and Lance (wife Joanna), and his granddaughters Cassidy and Ellie, he considered them all his own. He was extremely proud of his children and their accomplishments. And above all: he wants to thank his loving wife Kathy, his family and dear friends for providing support and companionship during this final journey.
