Paul Irven Cummins was born on July 9, 1937 in Frazer, Kentucky and passed away on August 27, 2016 in New Braunfels, Texas. Some knew him as a co-worker, some as a neighbor, others as a friend. We know him as a Husband, “Dad”, and Opa, and he is so terribly missed. He was our provider, our caretaker, our guide and our rock. He started out with nothing and worked hard for everything he had. As a military man, he served his country for 22 years. As Post Master he served the community for another 20 years. In his latter days, he needed to be served. Doing so was no great feat, no lofty sacrifice. We were simply mimicking what he had done for us for so many years. It was a privilege and honor to return the favor in some small part. A career in the Air Force allowed him to travel to many parts of the world, but dad was a country boy at heart and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, riding his tractor, feeding his cows, tending his garden and most especially being with his family. He took great pride in his family and raised us on a solid foundation of being honest, hardworking and respectful of others. He gave sound advice and a caring ear. He never intruded, but was quick to help when asked. He was kind and gracious to those who crossed his path. He was a man of humility. He was a man of honor. He was a man of integrity. He was a man’s man and a man of his word. As it is with all of us, he was not flawless, but he was a man you could count on, a man you could lean on and a man you could love. He is our man. And we are so blessed to have had him. He leaves behind his wife, four children, six grandchildren, and one he has joined in heaven, three great grandchildren and memories we will treasure for the rest of our days. His absence has a left a large hole in our hearts and we console ourselves in the promise that we will all be together again. He was so much more than Paul Irven Cummins. He was and will always be our dearly beloved father. We love you, Dad.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
