Paula Adele Ormiston, age 70, of Adkins, Texas passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 25, 2019. Paula was born July 30th, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio to the late William Wallace Ormiston and Dorothy Jenkins. She married Steven Standtke on July 29th 1978 in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
Paula is survived by her husband Steven Standtke; sons Brent Standtke and Christopher Fox; daughter-in-laws Lisa Fox and Jamie Dunevant; grandchildren Ethan Standtke, JT Kamps, Chelsey Kamps and Steven Fox; and nieces Lori, Kathy, Vicki and Diane. Paula was preceded in death by her sister, Wendy Vaughn.
In 1976 Paula became the first woman First Responder in Pinellas County, Florida by successfully passing the EMT and ambulance driving test. It was shortly after that Paula met Steve at Morton Plant Hospital.
Paula retired from ESC 20 in January of 2007 after a highly successful 20-year career. She literally began her career in the basement as a warehouse assistant and rose to become the Operations Manager of the entire ESC 20 campus. She made many life-long friends over the course of her career at Region 20.
A visitation for Paula will be held Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, Texas 78148. A funeral service will occur Monday, November 4, 2019 at 10:00 AM, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148 followed by an interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78266.
