Pete was born in Brownsville, Texas on April 20, 1929, to Alejandro and Guadalupe Champion. Immediately following his High School graduation, Pete enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving honorably in the Korean Conflict. Pete went on to work as an aircraft maintenance technician before retiring.
He was a devoted Catholic, and a devoted parishioner of St. Monica's Catholic Church, in Converse, TX. Pete is survived by his loving wife, Maria Luisa Lopez Champion of San Antonio, TX, and his two sons, Peter and Frank Champion, also of San Antonio, TX.
