Richard Malcolm Samer of Universal City passed away on November 12, 2018 in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 87. He was born on April 15, 1931 in Mesa, Idaho to Michael John and Goldie (Chase) Samer. He is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife whom he married on November 12, 1954 Toshiki Emori and sister Zelda Foly. He is survived by his children Randy Samer (wife Lisa Goff Samer), daughter Jeanine Samer; grandchildren Elizabeth Rozyskie, E. Albert Rozskie, III (wife Marissa), Kendra Samer Camplin (husband Brendan), Tara Samer Mulligan (husband Matthew); great grandchildren Melia Evans, Ethan Rozyskie; brothers Jim Samer (wife Mary Jane), and Dennis Samer (wife Judy).
Richard served in the United States Marine Corps for four years where he received the Presidential Unit Citation in 1951. He then served in the United States Air Force where he received the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Force Longevity Service Award with four Oak Leaf Clusters.and retired as a TSgt.
Graveside services and interment will be Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Humane Society of San Antonio.
