TSGT Robert E. Barkley (USAF Retired)

Robert Eugene Barkley, 79, beloved husband of Rose Mary Ridd Barkley went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at his home in San Antonio, Texas. He was the son of the late Robert Marion Barkley and Ida Lucille Medlin Barkley of Sumter South Carolina. He joined the United States Air Force at the age of 18. He served his country in Vietnam, Turkey, Japan and several locations in the United States until his retirement in 1973.

Surviving in addition to his wife are: four sons; Robert Eugene Barkley, Jr. and his wife Debbie, Richard Anthony Barkley and his wife, Heather, John William Barkley and his wife Irma, James Edward Barkley and his wife Diana; three daughters; Mary Patricia Kunkle and her husband John, Katherine Lucille Landry and her husband Doug and Margaret(Peggy) Rose Thomas and her husband Bruce, ten grandchildren Sherry Dean, John Kunkle II, DJ Landry, Kyle Landry, Aaron Sigmund, Christiana Barkley, James Barkley JR., Michelle Barkley, Jonathan Barkley, Brandon Barkley and three great grandchildren, Aiden Dean, Hailey Kunkle and Colton Sigmund.

He is also survived by two brothers: Charles L. Barkley and wife Billie, William E.(Bill) Barkley and wife Wanda and three sisters, Betty L. Parsons and husband Jack, Dorothy A. Sanders, and Gloria J. Hudnall and husband John. Brother-in law John Ridd brother of RoseMary Barkley, and wife, Diana, his 3 nieces, Roberta Thomas, husband Scott Thomas, children Kyle, Kean and Kade, Roseann Vincent, husband Paul, children Trinity and Darci, Rochelle Myers, husband Jeff, children Ryan and Jordyn, and nephew, John C Ridd, wife Kayce children Capri, Luci, and John C Ridd Jr.

The family of Robert Eugene Barkley will receive relatives and friends for visitation at Colonial Funeral Home at 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX from 4:00om until 8:00pm on Sunday, May 17, 2015. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service with full Military Honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

The family of Robert Eugene Barkley wishes to extend sincere appreciation for all acts of condolence, and would ask that any floral arrangement contribution be made to coordinate with the traditional patriotic colors, red, white and blue in appreciation of Robert's service to his country.
