April 4, 1949 – September 25, 2026
Robert Lee Williams, 77, of Universal City, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2026.
Robert was born on April 4, 1949, at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, to Dick Darrell Williams and Frances Jean Barron.
Robert proudly served his country for 22 years in the United States Air Force. His military career was an important part of his life, and he took great pride in his service. The experiences he had, the places he traveled, and the friendships he made during those years stayed with him throughout his life.
More than anything, Robert loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who treasured the time he spent with those closest to him. His seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren held a particularly special place in his heart, and being their grandfather and great-grandfather brought him tremendous joy.
Robert also had a lifelong love for golf. He loved everything about the game—the competition, being outdoors, the friendships, the conversations, and, of course, the laughs that came with a day on the course. For many years, if it was Sunday, there was a good chance you could find Robert playing golf.
Later in life, Robert found something that became even more important to him when he found Jesus Christ. His Sundays began to look a little different. Instead of heading to the golf course, Robert made his way to church, often with his favorite sidekick, his mother-in-law, lovingly known as “MeMa” Corbett.
Those Sundays together became very special to him. Robert never stopped loving golf, but his faith and his church became an important part of his life. He continued attending and loving his church until his passing.
Robert also had a special place in his heart for purple martins. He loved watching them and knew their flight and migration patterns so well that he knew when they should arrive and when they would leave. Each year, he looked forward to their return. Sitting back and watching them fly was one of the simple pleasures that brought him happiness and peace.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Williams; his children, Anna Longoria, Chet Williams and his wife, Jennifer Williams, and Amanda Price; his seven grandchildren, Gavin Rivera, Mia Rivera, Madelynn Williams, Brayden Williams, Landen Williams, Jude Longoria, and Jonah Longoria; and his two great-grandchildren, Arabella Jaquez and Izan Silver Jaquez; brother, Randy Williams and sister, Lori Neal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick Darrell Williams and Frances Jean Barron, and his brother, Dickie Williams, along with other cherished family members who passed before him.
Robert leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him dearly. He will be remembered for his service to his country, his love of family, his passion for golf, his fascination with purple martins, and the faith that became such an important part of his life.
His memory will live on every time his family gathers, every time a round of golf is played in his honor, and every spring when the purple martins return to the sky.
Pallbearers: Chet Williams, Jude Longoria, Jonah Longoria, Colin Latham, Gavin Rivera and Placido Jaquez
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Robert’s memory.
