SSG Rodney Ernest Frank January 19, 1954- April 8, 2020
Rodney (Rock) was born in De Quincy, Louisiana to Ernest Frank, Jr. and Yvonne Daniels Stewart. He attended Grand Ave School from grades 1-8. As a child, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting comic books, constructing vintage car and airplane models. He was baptized at the age seven and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and attended Morning Star Baptist Church. Rodney graduated from De Quincy High School in 1973. He played on the football team and ran track. His favorite subject was history. He was known for his bright smile, sense of humor, and his kindness to others.
Rodney moved to California and shortly afterwards joined and served proudly in the U.S. Army. He was fortunate to qualify for the elite 82nd Airborne Unit. He was stationed in Florida, South Korea and El Paso Texas. He enjoyed laughter, family, friends and life. He met and married his wife Chong (Kim) and they were married for 30 years. After retiring from the army, he acquired a job with the US Postal Service and in February of 2020 he retired from the USPS.
Rodney is survived by his wife Chong (Kim); son David; mother Yvonne; sisters Sherry Moses, Janice Moses, LaRonda Jenkins; step-daughter Sumi Aycock; son in law Joseph Aycock; grandchildren Joseph, Mia, Raymond; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
