Rolan Raymond Procell Jr. was born to Rolan Procell Sr. and Kitty Arnold Procell in Monroe, Louisiana on August 12, 1947. He grew up hunting and fishing with his father and brother, Billy, in the swamps of Louisiana. Rolan also had a love of music. He played the baritone in his high school band and was partial to marches by John Philip Sousa. He began his military career in the United States Air Force here at Randolph Air Force Base in 1969. He was a proud veteran who served our country during Vietnam. Upon returning home, he came back to Louisiana where he met the love of his life, Mary Ksyheliah Clark, on a church hayride. Rolan and Mary, or Butch and Kae as longtime family and friends called them, were married in September of 1971 and began their life together. Their sweet family began with the birth of their first daughter, Miriam, while living in Louisiana. Their next assignment took them to Arkansas where another daughter, Sarah, was born. While in Arkansas, Rolan sang with the Eight Street Singers. Alaska was next on the list and what a beautiful experience it was. Rolan often led music in the church, and yes, it was in a log cabin. Next was another mountainous journey to Colorado where the weather was perfect. And that brings us to Texas and back to Randolph Air Force Base where he finished his military career. Rolan shared his beautiful singing voice with many throughout the years. He sang with the Blue Notes in the Air Force as well as the chapel choir. Rolan made lifelong friends through the Randolph community. A true highlight of both Rolan and Mary has been their grandsons: Gavin, Anthony, and Isaac. Rolan spent many moments with his grandsons playing games, talking about guns, classic cars, and of course, music. Rolan will be missed. His voice and boisterous personality was one of a kind and he made friends wherever he went. Rolan passed away on January 10, 2025, at the age of 77. He is survived by his two daughters, Miriam and Sarah, his three grandsons, Gavin, Anthony, and Isaac, as well as his sister, Marilyn, and nephew Todd and his wife Hazar and their son Jordan.
