Viewing will be at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a Catholic Rosary, Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, TX. Catholic Mass service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 22, 2024 at St Monica Catholic Church, 501 North St, Converse, TX. Per wishes of the family, he will be buried in Roswell, NM at Southpark Cemetery; date and time TBD.
Ron was born in Roswell, NM to Gregorio Hidalgo and Helen Hidalgo on December 18, 1974. He attended Roswell High School and decided to follow family tradition by serving his country. He served in the United States Marine Corps from November 1994 to November 1998. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Meritorious Mast, and Rifle Expert Badge. After serving his country he continued to serve more than 21 years with the United States Department of Homeland Security. He cherished spending time with his family and enjoyed the outdoors, camping, sports, music, computers, and traveling.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio Hidalgo and Helen Hidalgo; Father-in-law, Francisco Escajeda; and nephew, Gregory Joseph Hidalgo.
Ron is survived by his wife, Hilda Veronica Hidalgo; son, Ron Anthony Hidalgo; daughter, Deandra Wolfe and son-in-law, Luis Gallegos of San Antonio, TX; Greg and Tina Hidalgo of San Antonio, TX; Larry Hidalgo of San Antonio, TX; Matthew and Bernadette Thompson of San Antonio, TX; Daniel Hidalgo of San Antonio, TX; Robert and Sonia Hidalgo of Roswell, NM; Phillip and Angie Gutierrez of Orange County, CA; Roy and Teri Gutierrez of El Paso, TX; mother-in-law, Rebecca Escajeda of San Antonio, TX; Jacob and Laura Mireles of San Antonio, TX; Alejandra Torres of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Lorenzo and Liliana Gallegos. Including numerous nephews and nieces whom he loved.
Pallbearers will be Greg Hidalgo, Larry Hidalgo, Daniel Hidalgo, Robert Hidalgo, Phillip Gutierrez, and Roy Gutierrez.
