Russell Roland Knouse

He was preceded in death by his father Roland Helmand Knouse, his mother Lavina Mary Knouse, his wife Dorothy Jane Knouse, His sister Nancy Snelick, his brothers Keith Knouse and Donald Knouse, his son Jefferey Alan Knouse and his daughter Bridgette Jean Chadwick. He is survived by his sister Linda Adair, his sons James Roland Knouse, Eric Lloyd Knouse, Russell Martin Knouse and Gary Philip Knouse and by his daughters Sherry Ann Knouse and Pamela Jane Holmberg. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Russell enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1947 which became the Air Force one year after he enlisted. He served for 22 years and was honorably retired. He was a member of St. Helena’s Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. He managed the church’s library for many years. He and his wife establish the seniors 50+ Club which is still active after over 28 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Russell’s devotion to his faith and family never wavered. Through his guidance and love his eight children became hard working and self-reliant individuals who love and respect their mother and father. His sense of humor only increased as he grew older and he successfully took the trophy two years running for the ugliest Christmas sweater contest of which he was very proud.

A visitation for Russell will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 5:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A rosary will occur Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 7:00 PM, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A mass will occur Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 10:00 AM at St. Helena Catholic Church, 14714 Edgemont St., San Antonio, TX 78247.
