Sara,

This is your old pal, Staff Sergeant Jeremy Townsend. Back in 2007, it was Airman 1st Class Townsend during our deployment to Qatar. Haha! How time has flown! When I got word that you had passed away, my heart sank to the bottom of my stomach. You are one of my military sisters, who I dearly love! I still remember the times where you needed your coffee to start the day! Haha! You always had a way of putting a smile on my face when I was having a terrible day. :) I know this note is over a year later, but I wanted to pay my respects to you and let you know that I never forgot about you. You're a great gal! I will always love and miss you, my dear sister! Thank you for serving with me!

Sara, I was so Intrigued and fascinated the first time I met you. Watching as you and Bryan met that first time and how each of you lit up when you saw yourself in the other. One wanting a big sister and the other a true brother. Astonished and amazed at how alike you two are, each an image of the other. A bourbon, your drink of choice and mine, Tarot cards, the mystical world, spirituality, strange things for you and me to have in common, questions asked, answers given, mine different from what you were told, that made me angry, also quite sad. I watched as you and Pam, the love of my life, circled, bantered, bonded, understanding, finally loving. Everyone at Grandpa Fred’s to welcome you home, the oldest grandchild, your rightful place. The Cowart reunion, two new ladies introduced, you walked away with their hearts, the other as Aunt Sue said, weeded herself out. I watched as you and Bryan floated, hung out and played in the water and imagined a past where the four of us were together as family. So much in common, both with that great smile, your noses, ears, expressions, those dam cigarettes which caused a fuss, then big sister stepped in. Colorado Springs, out of your way to meet Aunt Bonnie, way to cool. Sara, I played this wrong, tentative with advice, boundaries perceived, a fear of offending. When I asked you why, you always held back, I should have pushed you harder to show me your demons, that chance is gone.  I lost you to others when your life began, never hid from you, only stayed away, a deal that was made, very easy to find. Pam knew about you the first night we met, then we waited. You found us, and we didn’t run. Given the truth earlier, you would still here be with us today. Something special of you, which we get to cherish, your brother Bryan, his smile, your smile, a reflection of you, but lost to the rest. Sara, I will love and miss you forever, thank you for calling me dad, that melted my heart, but I needed more time with you to earn it.

Sara you were the brightest light and we all felt blessed to be a part of you.  We never guessed the pain you felt or how we must have failed you.  I love you my little niece.  I will miss you every day until I get to see you again.  I know our father our creator cradles you and holds you close and that the tears are all wiped away from your eyes.  I know there is no more pain or sadness for you.  Until we meet again little one.  Love is eternal.....

I was in complete and utter shock to recently hear of Sara’s passing. I was a colleague of hers for a short period of time. My deepest condolences to all of her family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this devistating time.

I am deeply saddened to just hear of Sara's passing. Although I only had the opportunity of knowing her a short time, I can say that she will be deeply missed. As a former collegue of Sara's, she had a bright and energetic spirit that was contagious to all of those around her. She will never be forgotten and may she go on to Rest In Peace eternally. My condolences and sincerest regards to Sara's family and loved ones.

I remember going on a trip with my brother to stay with my grandparents for the summer and getting to spend time with my cousins, including Sara! We would make cupcakes with grandma, play Super Mario bros 3 ,  and jumped on the neighbors trampoline.  More recently we went out for Sushi and just talked about life. I will truly miss Sara she was a beautiful person through and through

You graced our world with beauty, warmth and grace. You will be missed. 

Sara is my best friend, my sister.  I have endless memories of her so it is difficult to pick one. But there is a few things I can share if you live or visit San Antonio. First her favorite places to eat are the Madhatter Café for special occasions(any occasion) or for everyday eats it was Panera Bread. She loved to go to Alamo Draft house and see the old movies. She loved Roller Coasters and made me go on them even though I am terrified, one of her favorites is the shark coaster at SeaWorld. In the fall she loved going to corn mazes and seeing haunted houses and of course sipping on hot apple cider. She only did 5k's if they involved foam, bubbles and rainbow colors and never did she run. She loved the local wine tour the atmosphere and instant friends she made there. She loved musicals and plays and went anytime she had the chance. her laugh and smile were infectious and she will always have a piece of my heart. I love you Sara and thank you for bringing so much light into my life.

As I wipe my tears over the loss of my granddaughter, I think of how losing you will affect those you left behind. I was so proud of you and I loved our long conversations.  I thought we were a lot alike because we owned so many cats and worked in the same profession.  I can hardly imagine how much I’ll miss you, but I take comfort in the thought that we did have many hours to create memories together by phone and Facebook, and these memories will stay with me for the rest of my lifetime. 

It is always sad to say good bye to someone you love, but it's especially difficult saying  goodbye to my granddaughter that I never had the pleasure of meeting in person. We had such a short amount of time with you, but you many heartwarming moments with your dad, Bryan, Pam and your Aunt Bonnie, so I will take comfort in that thought. I’m going to miss you and when I do, I’ll think of the fun chats we had during our calls. Good memories have a way to console a broken heart. If only I’d gotten to meet you in person and hold you one time; now it will be in heaven!

To Sherry and Sara's family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers as you suffer this terrible loss. Sherry I can't imagine your pain, no mother should have to bury her baby girl. I am Sara's Aunt and have loved her without condition always. I was able to connect with her and let her know how much she was loved. My heart is so broken and I will miss her always. I love you always Sara !! I know you know you are loved.

We are deeply saddened by the death of our Granddaughter, Sara. We met Sara, for the first time about four years ago and what a delightful young lady. We were quite enamored by Sara. She will hold a special place in our hearts. In lieu of flowers we will have a Mass said her.

I'll never forget the trip to your Grandpa Fred's house to meet everyone (17 cousins and that was your first stop!)...  Meeting you was like love at first sight!  Everyone adored you and wanted to smother you with their love.  Priceless! Everyone wanting to do more, but afraid to overwhelm you.  I got to witness you have so many "Ah Ha" moments, as you discovered all of things you had in common with each of your family members. Your cute little cheeks and beautiful smile and tiny ears (your brothers),  likes, dislikes, bad habits. hobbies, you name it, you were the same as your dad, your brother and parts and pieces of all the other relatives. From the same interests down to tiny little quirks, you shared all of these things with your newly found relatives.  No more mystery!   You were learning about yourself for the first time and I loved watching you finally be able to connect/relate with someone that was just like you.   I'm sorry it ended so soon.  Our hearts are broken as struggle to accept; as we struggle to let go; as we struggle to say goodbye. 

I met Sara during her time stationed in WY during her last year of service. She always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude. I've thought of her often over the years, always with good memories. Although I didn't know her well she made a memorable impact. I am very saddened to hear of her passing and will keep her family in my thoughts  during this very difficult time. 

This photo was the end of Sara's first trip to meet the family. You can see that we were all really tired.  That's because we spent a whole week trying to make up for lost time so we talked all night almost every night  (didn't want to miss a moment of our time with her).  We took a road trip to see her grandfather and all of her Aunts Uncles and 17 cousins at which point her brother Bryan realized he was bumped from title of "the oldest grandchild!"  We didn't want to let her leave, and we tried everything to make her stay longer.  Everyone she met had one question, When you moving East?  Well, we didn't get to keep her in Virginia, but we were fortunate enough to spend many more quality hours with our sweet Sara.  And for that we are forever grateful.  They say if you wait long enough good things will happen. Well we waited many years and a great thing happened.  Sara changed our lives forever and we're not ready to say goodbye, so we'll say until we meet again.  

This picture was one of our first family outings. A foot of snow didn't stop us did it?  Snapped this on our way to Georgetown to check out the stairs from the movie the "Exorcist." LOL We had so much fun with you Sara. Laughing, crying, even fussing at little brother (which he actually loved!).  Hey, if you run into the big guy upstairs, tell him I am requesting a "re-do!!!!" 

A picture can say a 1000 words...  First time meeting Brother Bryan, dad Ken (neither of them dance), in the middle of the living room teaching them Line Dancing !!!   This was the night our lives really began.  Thank you for loving us for who we are and for allowing us to love you back.  Wish we had more time.

My sincerest condolences to Sara's loved ones. The memory that is in my heart is the very first time I met Sara. I worked with her mom. Sherry always spoke to me about her Sara. I felt like I knew her from all my talks with Sherry. The thing that stood out was Sara's beautiful smile. When she smiled she lit up the room. I remember she was in her uniform and she smiled and shook my hand. I gave her a hug.  I feel blessed to have met her.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Dorothy Jane Knouse, her uncle, Jeffery Alan Knouse. She is survived by her mother, Sherry Ann Knouse, father, Kenneth B. Jaeger, stepmother, Pamela Jaeger, brother, Bryan Shane Jaeger.  Her extended family is too large and numerous to name all who survive her but there are 3 grandparents, 6 aunts, 5 uncles and 32 cousins, all who loved and embraced her.
