Shawn was preceded in death by his father Maurice Carlton and his brother-in-law Robby Frantz. He survived by his wife, Heather, daughters Maura and Aryanna, grandson Kellen, his mother Shirley, brother Kevin (wife Tarolyn), sister Trina, nieces Javonna, Kayla, Kennady and Taylor, parents-in-law Vince and Kim Smith, brothers-in-law Vince Jr. (wife Elayna & their children Heidi & Kenzie) and Sean, sister-in-law Hayley, and numerous relatives.
Shawn accepted Christ at the early age of 7, and was baptized. As a child of military life, his home was wherever they were stationed. He graduated in June 1988 from Randolph High School (Ro-Hawks) at Randolph AFB in Universal City, Texas, and went on to serve honorably in the United States Air Force (Senior Airman). During the time Shawn served, he was deployed overseas to support both Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and received numerous awards including The National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and Air Force Achievement Medal.
After almost two decades together, Shawn and Heather were married on June 21, 2013 in a beautiful destination wedding in Turks and Caicos. He was a true family man, and took that title very seriously. He was a wonderful husband, loving, dedicated father, and very supportive of all his family. He was known to be able to do just about any job, and most recently he was employed by American Tire Distributors.
Shawn was known to many by his nickname, Cee, and his outgoing personality. He loved golf, music (he had a crazy tolerance for deafening volumes), barbecuing (his bbq was top notch and his special bbq sauce was amazing!) and team sports. But above all else was his love for people. He was a stranger to no one…only a great friend that hadn’t been met yet. There was rarely a place Cee went, that you didn’t hear his name called out and a friendly face coming to say hello. His smile was one of a kind, it would light up the darkest room. Cee made everyone feel like they’d known him their whole life. He always had a handshake or hug for his neighbors too, he cared about each of them like family. He was a gifted storyteller and loved to have intense conversations on many subjects. And that laugh of his! It was truly one of a kind, infectious and heartwarming. The world has lost a passionate, loving soul. Though he is no longer on this Earth, he made his mark in our hearts and his legacy will live on.
